Dell Inc. acquired Alienware as a subsidiary in March 2006; however, Alienware was established about 10 years ago. Alienware had specialized in high performance desktops, laptops and workstations. Previously, most major manufacturers, including Dell had failed to see the potential of the high performance gaming market. As the demand for gaming laptops grew, Dell was drawn towards Alienware.

Alienware’s name itself as well as the names of its company products are inspired by the successful TV series, The X-Files. Even the designs of its laptops have extra-terrestrial themes.

As others have noted, with modern hardware, it's all a matter of drivers. Microsoft pays companies to restrict their development of proprietary drivers for OEMs, as they have volume licensing agreements for the sale of Windows. Without such dirty tricks, Microsoft can no longer compete against Linux and OSX. The problem is that Windows scales terribly and can not benefit from the new quad-core and 8-like Linux can. This means that the hardware does not matter how you move one Microsoft operating system, Microsoft erode its potential as acid thrown on a new car.

This is the best computer I've ever used and have had the honor. I have Windows systems from Windows 3.1 and have been for the last two years with the Mac My first Mac was a MacBook Pro that I am more than satisfied on the basis of how well I needed and quality in building a robust machine I decided that my new HP Desktop with 24 "Changing the iMac, and I was so glad I did. The screen is beautiful, the keyboard is excellent, and even comfort, is an incredible operating system, OSX Leopard and design and the look of the iMac is so elegant place makes it appear as if just to be there. Amazing job Apple.
